Assembly members of Akatsi South Municipality in the Volta Region have voted massively to elect Mr. Martin Kofitsey Nyahe as the new Municipal Chief Executive
His Excellency, President of the Republic of Ghana nominated Martin Kofitsey Nyahe to continue the work of Leo Nelson Adedogah the former District Chief Executive of the Akatsi South.
Until recently it was a district but the assembly has had a facelift in status and it's now a municipality
Martin Kofitsey Nyahe has made a history for being the first Municipal Chief Executive of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly
Forty (40) Assembly members cast their ballot and out of it, thirty-two (32) voted Yes representing eighty percent (80%), seven members voted No representing nineteen point nine percent (19.9%) while one member voted to reject the President's nominee.
Present at the election was the Regional Minister, Dr. Achibold Yao Letsa, Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, the Presiding Officer of the assembly and other New Patriotic Party regional and constituency members
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected and confirmed Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, Martin Kofitsey Nyahe thanked the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for giving him the opportunity to serve his people, the party and the country as a whole
He also expressed gratitude to the assembly members, the traditional leaders and the indigene of the area for their love and support
He assured the members that he will work assiduously to catch up with the deficit in development the assembly is facing currently
